Golden Suns, Reddies Split Twin Bill

Game One: Arkansas Tech 9, HSU 2 Arkansas Tech University slugged four home runs on its way to a 9-2 victory over Henderson State in the series opener on Sunday. Miranda Dupree was 2-for-4 with two home runs and three runs batted in, Shanna Davidson was 3-for-4 with a home run and Morgan Vaughan was 2-for-3 with a home run. The Golden Suns rank in the top five in NCAA Division II this season in home runs per game. Alex Edinger added two hits and Kambri Hill notched two RBIs as Arkansas Tech earned its sixth consecutive victory. Vaughan (9-3) pitched all seven innings for the Suns and limited the Reddies to two runs on two hits. She recorded seven strikeouts. Henderson State starting pitcher Michelle Sorensen (15-8) surrendered four runs on seven hits in six innings of work. Game Two: HSU 10, Arkansas Tech 1 Tricia Hock’s three-run home run in the second inning propelled Henderson State to a 10-1 victory over Arkansas Tech in Sunday’s nightcap. Hock finished the game 2-for-3 with four RBIs. Ashlyn White (9-2) started in the circle for the Reddies and allowed just one hit — a solo home run by Arkansas Tech’s Shanna Davidson in the top of the third inning. The game was stopped after the fifth inning due to the mercy rule. Victoria Huie (11-5) was the losing pitcher. She allowed six runs on eight hits in one and two-thirds innings.]]>
