Golden Suns Ranked 21st in Nation

Arkansas Tech University is ranked 21st in the USA Today Sports NCAA Division II women’s basketball top poll released on Tuesday, Jan. 26, by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association.

The Golden Suns (13-2 overall, 11-0 Great American Conference) dropped one spot in the rankings despite a 2-0 week. Arkansas Tech defeated Henderson State University 87-64 on Thursday and the University of Arkansas-Monticello 90-60 on Saturday.

Head coach Dave Wilbers and the Golden Suns have won seven consecutive games. Their average margin of victory during the winning streak has been 19.6 points.

Arkansas Tech will host Southwestern Oklahoma State University at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 28, and Northwestern Oklahoma State University at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 30. Both games will be played at Tucker Coliseum in Russellville.

Tickets ($5 adults / $3 senior citizens and students) will be available at the door. Those with a valid Arkansas Tech identification card will be admitted free of charge. Radio station KCJC 102.3 FM and www.arkansastechsports.com will have live coverage.
