Golden Suns Post 320 in Opening Round

Arkansas Tech’s women’s golf team finds itself in a tie for ninth place among a 17-team field at the midpoint of the University of Central Oklahoma Broncho Classic at 6,120-yard, par-70 Lincoln Park Golf Course in Edmond, Okla.

The Golden Suns shot 320 in Monday’s opening round to match East Central University’s score and earn a share of ninth place.

Tournament host Central Oklahoma was the first-round leader after accumulating a team score of 289.

Arkansas Tech’s Alyssia Duvall returned a first-round 79 and is in a tie for 30th place in the individual standings with 18 holes to go.

Kyla McIsaac and Ana Morales both shot 80 for the Golden Suns on Monday and they are part of a tie for 40th place.

Elizabeth Sweetnam (T-49th, 81) and Niki Possage (T-68th, 84) are also competing for Arkansas Tech in the event.

Linzi Allan of Newman University and Chaney Uhles of Central Oklahoma shared the first-round lead after matching scores of 1-over par 71.

The final round is scheduled for Tuesday.
