Golden Suns Perform Well in Alabama

It was a busy and productive weekend for the Arkansas Tech softball team, which won 4-of-6 games at the 2011 Charger Softball Chillout in Decatur, Ala., Friday through Sunday.

The Golden Suns opened the event with a 3-2 loss to Augusta State and a 4-0 defeat at the hands of nationally second-ranked North Georgia on Friday, but things turned around after that.

Shutout wins over Truman State (2-0) and Northern Kentucky (5-0) on Saturday led to a valuable in-region victory over Florida Tech (2-0) on Sunday.

Arkansas Tech closed out its portion of the event later on Sunday with an 8-1 win over Kentucky Wesleyan.

The Golden Suns, now 5-3 on the season, will return home to host Southeastern Oklahoma State on Friday, Feb. 25. First pitch for the doubleheader at the Chartwells Women’s Sports Complex in Russellville is set for 1 p.m.
