Golden Suns Move Up to No. 5 in Nation

Arkansas Tech University advanced one position to No. 5 in the latest USA Today/ESPN NCAA Division II women’s basketball top 25 poll, which was released by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association on Tuesday.

The Golden Suns (6-1) moved up on the strength of their wins over West Georgia and St. Edward’s University last week.

Tech defeated West Georgia 66-56 in Carrollton, Ga., on Monday, Nov. 29. The Suns returned home for their 23rd consecutive victory at Tucker Coliseum, an 80-57 triumph over St. Edward’s on Saturday, Dec. 4.

This is the 17th consecutive week that Arkansas Tech has been included in the USA Today/ESPN NCAA Division II women’s basketball top 25 poll, and it is the 13th straight week that the Golden Suns have been in the top 10.

The Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys (5-2) fell out of the National Association of Basketball Coaches NCAA Division II men’s basketball top 25 this week, ending a streak of 18 consecutive weeks in the national poll for Tech’s men.

Both Arkansas Tech teams will be in Jackson, Tenn., on Saturday, Dec. 11, for a non-conference doubleheader against Lambuth University.
