Arkansas Tech University advanced two spots to No. 12 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association NCAA Division II top 25 poll released on Monday, Oct. 23.
The Golden Suns (26-0 overall, 11-0 Great American Conference) are off to the best start to a season in ATU volleyball history, and the No. 12 national ranking is the highest ever for the Tech volleyball program.
There are 283 NCAA Division II institutions competing in volleyball during the 2017 season. Only three — ATU, California Baptist University and Palm Beach Atlantic University — are undefeated through matches completed on Oct. 22.
The Golden Suns will attempt to set a new school record for longest volleyball winning streak when they face Central Baptist College for a 6 p.m. non-conference match in Conway on Monday, Oct. 23.
The current record of 26 consecutive wins was established by the 2000 Arkansas Tech volleyball team and matched by the 2017 team when it defeated Southern Nazarene University on Friday for its 26th consecutive victory.
ATU will return to GAC play when it hosts Henderson State University on Thursday, Oct. 26. First serve for the Tech-HSU match at Tucker Coliseum in Russellville is scheduled for 6 p.m. No admission will be charged.
