Golden Suns Maintain No. 4 National Ranking

Arkansas Tech is ranked fourth in the USA Today/ESPN NCAA Division II women’s basketball top 25 poll for a second consecutive week.

The latest poll, released on Tuesday, Jan. 11, by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association, finds the Golden Suns (12-1 overall, 1-0 Gulf South Conference) inside the top 25 for a 20th consecutive week and inside the top 10 for a 16th straight polling period.

No. 1 Delta State University of Mississippi (13-0), No. 2 Lander University of South Carolina (15-0), No. 3 Fort Lewis College of Colorado (14-0) and No. 5 Clayton State University of Georgia (14-0) also maintained their previous positions in the top five.

Arkansas Tech held its position in the national rankings by picking up road wins at St. Edward’s University and Henderson State University last week.

The Golden Suns opened GSC play by defeating the HSU Lady Reddies 85-78 in Arkadelphia on Saturday.

Arkansas Tech will continue its conference schedule on Thursday, Jan. 13, by visiting Christian Brothers University (7-6, 0-1) for a 5 p.m. contest at Canale Arena in Memphis, Tenn.

The game will be broadcast in the Arkansas River Valley by KWKK 100.9 FM.
