Golden Suns, Lady Bisons Split Twin Bill

Game One: HU 4, Tech 3 Harding rallied for two runs in the top of the seventh inning and the Lady Bisons collected a 4-3 victory over the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns in Tuesday’s opener. Amanda Berdon hit a solo home run and Courtney Derrick scored on an error in the top of the seventh to give Harding the lead for good. The Golden Suns put the tying run on base in the bottom of the seventh, but Lady Bison pitcher Amber Rollins was able to induce a game-ending double play to preserve the Harding victory. Rollins (15-8) struck out six batters and allowed two hits over seven innings of work. Game Two: Tech 6, HU 3 Whitney Robinson went 3-for-4 with two runs scored to lead Arkansas Tech to a 6-3 victory over Harding in the nightcap. Chelsea Reeves, Siarra Gomez and Ashton Long notched two hits apiece for the Golden Suns. Gomez hit her second home run of the season. Ashley Keen drove in two runs. Arkansas Tech starting pitcher Sydnee Clark (10-9) scattered 10 hits over six and one-third innings. She allowed three runs and struck out five before giving way to reliever Carlie Caruthers, who recorded the final two outs for her second save of 2014.]]>
