What happens when a softball team’s 14-game winning streak ends?
For Arkansas Tech University, the answer was simple: start a new one.
The Golden Suns dropped game one to Harding University 8-5 in Searcy on Tuesday before bouncing back to take the nightcap 6-0.
Arkansas Tech (29-13 overall, 23-7 Great American Conference) were led to victory in game two by Paty Loredo, who went 3-for-4 with two runs batted in.
Pitchers Kristen Dempsey (9-3) and Bailey Shaffer combined on a five-hit shutout for the Golden Suns. Dempsey went five innings before giving way to Shaffer, who got the final six outs.
ATU will visit Southern Arkansas University for a four-game GAC series in Magnolia on Sunday, April 14, and Monday, April 15.
First pitch is booked for 4 p.m. Sunday and 2 p.m. Monday.
