Golden Suns Improve to 6-0

Arkansas Tech University picked up a pair of non-conference volleyball wins at Tucker Coliseum in Russellville on Tuesday, Sept. 5.

The Golden Suns (6-0) defeated Bacone College 25-19, 25-5, 25-14 on Tuesday afternoon before cruising past Williams Baptist College 25-9, 25-11, 25-18 on Tuesday evening.

Rilie Vote notched 15 kills in Tech’s victory over Bacone, while Hunter Eshnaur led the way with 12 kills against Williams Baptist. Madison Nagel had a total of 30 digs in the two wins.

Arkansas Tech is off to its best start to a volleyball season in nine years. The 2008 Golden Suns won their first eight matches before suffering their first defeat.

ATU will compete in the Townplace Suites Invitational at Joplin, Mo., on Friday, Sept. 8, and Saturday, Sept. 9.

The Golden Suns will face Chadron State College at 6 p.m. Friday, Maryville University at 2:30 p.m. Saturday and Missouri Southern State University at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. All three matches will be played on the MSSU campus at Robert Ellis Young Gymnasium.
