The Golden Suns defeated Pittsburg State 25-20, 22-25, 25-23, 25-18 at the Peggy Martin Challenge in Warrensburg, Mo., on Friday.
Tech’s Carly Florian made 23 kills and Morgan McKellar notched 27 digs in the victory. Kaitlyn White had a double-double (14 kills and 19 digs), while Sara Motsinger recorded 13 kills. Amber Cerrillos was credited with 57 assists.
Later on Friday, Arkansas Tech dropped a four-set decision to nationally seventh-ranked Central Missouri in its second match at the Peggy Martin Challenge.
The Jennies defeated the Golden Suns 21-25, 25-14, 26-24, 25-15. Florian had 17 kills in the loss.
Saturday found Arkansas Tech in Bolivar, Mo., for the Southwest Baptist University Crossover.
The Golden Suns started that event with a 25-18, 22-25, 25-20, 20-25, 15-10 win over Lindenwood University.
The victory allowed Arkansas Tech to avenge a Sept. 7 home loss to Lindenwood.
Tech’s Brittany Ryan had 13 kills and nine blocks in the win. Florian made 17 kills.
The Golden Suns completed their trip to the Show-Me State with a three-set loss to nationally top-ranked Nebraska-Kearney on Saturday afternoon.
The Lopers improved to 18-0 on the season with a 25-19, 25-14, 25-14 victory over Arkansas Tech.
The Golden Suns (17-7) will return to Great American Conference play by hosting Southern Nazarene University for a 6 p.m. match on Friday, Oct. 12. Admission to Tucker Coliseum will be free.
Arkansas Tech is 5-1 in league play, which puts it in third place in the GAC standings and one match behind co-leaders Harding (15-6, 6-0) and Southern Arkansas (13-4, 6-0).
