Golden Suns Finish 4th in Puerto Rico

Arkansas Tech University concluded the fall portion of its 2015-16 women’s golf schedule by finishing fourth among 12 teams in the UIS Island Getaway at Rio Mar Country Club in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, on Monday and Tuesday.

The Golden Suns posted team scores of 307-322 for a 36-hole total of 629. Defending NCAA Division II national champion University of Indianapolis won the tournament with a two-day score of 603.

Anna Frandsen was Tech’s top individual finisher in Puerto Rico. Her rounds of 75-81 were good for a 156 total and a share of 11th place in the individual standings.

Caroline Fredensborg (14th, 80-77-157), Avery Struck (T-15th, 74-84-158), Jessica Sachs (T-24th, 80-80-160) and Pia Nunbhakdi (T-37th, 78-88-166) also competed for the Golden Suns.

The individual title went to Kylie Raines of Indianapolis. She shot 76-73 for a 149 total and a one-stroke victory.

Arkansas Tech will resume its 2015-16 women’s golf schedule March 25-26 at the University of Nebraska-Kearney Invitational.
