Golden Suns Earn Road Win at Lane College

Five Arkansas Tech University players reached double figures in scoring and the Golden Suns secured a season sweep of Lane College by defeating the Lady Dragons 80-59 in Jackson, Tenn., on Thursday afternoon.

Arkansas Tech (6-1) led 16-9 after one quarter and steadily pulled away from Lane (1-10), building a 34-21 advantage at halftime and a 58-41 edge after three periods.

The Golden Suns had previously defeated the Lady Dragons 86-49 in Russellville in the season opener for both teams on Nov. 12.

Ke’Vonshaye Stackhouse led the Suns with 17 points. She was 8-of-9 from the field. Tech made 52 percent (33-of-63) of its field goal attempts on Thursday.

Ryann Goodsell was next with a career-high 16 points. The sophomore from Springdale connected on 8-of-10 field goal attempts and matched teammate Cheyenne North for game-high honors in rebounds with nine.

North scored 14 points, while Jayana Sanders and Lyrik Williams contributed 10 points apiece for the Golden Suns.

Destiny Irvin scored a team-high 12 points for the Lady Dragons.

ATU will return to action on Saturday, Dec. 30, with a 1 p.m. non-conference game against Lincoln University (Mo.) at Tucker Coliseum in Russellville.
