Nationally 10th-ranked Arkansas Tech University extended its season-opening volleyball winning streak to 30 matches by defeating Southern Arkansas University 25-9, 25-15, 25-21 in Great American Conference play at Tucker Coliseum in Russellville on Thursday night.
With the Golden Suns’ win and Harding University’s loss at Henderson State University on Thursday, Arkansas Tech clinched at least a share of the 2017 GAC volleyball title with two regular season matches remaining.
The Golden Suns (30-0 overall, 14-0 GAC) had a team hitting percentage of .344 (46 kills, 15 attack errors, 90 total attempts) while holding the Lady Muleriders to an .048 team hitting percentage (23 kills, 19 attack errors, 84 total attempts).
Lexie Johnston made 10 kills and Amanda Milnick distributed 35 assists to help Arkansas Tech remain one of just two unbeaten NCAA Division II volleyball teams this season. The other is California Baptist University (22-0).
The Golden Suns will face Harding at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 7, at Rhodes-Reaves Field House in Searcy. Tech’s final regular season home match is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 9, when the Suns will host Ouachita Baptist University at Tucker Coliseum.
