Golden Suns Blank Pipers and Lady Mustangs

Arkansas Tech extended its home volleyball winning streak to 14 consecutive matches with a pair of wins over in-state foes at Tucker Coliseum in Russellville on Monday.

The Golden Suns (19-3) began the day with a 25-14, 25-14, 25-15 victory over the Lyon College Pipers.

Brittany Ryan had 10 kills and five blocks, while Sierra Nighswonger made 24 assists and Laura Farney added nine kills and nine digs. Brennae Benda had nine digs of her own.

Chelsea Hinton led Lyon College (5-13) with eight kills.

Arkansas Tech made Monday a clean sweep by defeating the Central Baptist College Lady Mustangs 25-9, 25-11, 25-7.

Kaitlyn White registered 10 kills and six digs for the Golden Suns in the nightcap. Farney and Sara Motsinger recorded nine kills apiece. Ryan made six blocks and Taylor Brown had 16 digs. Nighswonger was credited with 34 assists.

Tiffani Cutwright made 11 assists for Central Baptist (7-13).

The Golden Suns will hit the road for Great American Conference matches at Southeastern Oklahoma State on Thursday, Oct. 6, and Southwestern Oklahoma State on Friday, Oct. 7.
