Suns Clinch Share of GSC West Title

Students in Free Enterprise are once again offering students a unique opportunity to prepare for the job search.

Arkansas Tech clinched a share of the 2010 Gulf South Conference West Division volleyball championship and a No. 1 seed in the GSC Tournament by defeating the Arkansas-Monticello Cotton Blossoms 25-18, 25-11, 25-17 at Steelman Field House in Monticello on Tuesday night.

The Golden Suns (29-4 overall, 10-1 GSC) took control of the match by winning the final five points of game one. Tech never looked back from there as it won its 11th consecutive match and improved to 24-1 in its last 25 matches.

Sarah Von Lienen led the Suns with 11 kills and four blocks. Tech’s Ashlynn Hamrick notched nine kills, while Kera Dukic made 30 assists.

The Golden Suns will play their final home match of the season on Thursday, Nov. 4, when they host Henderson State for a 7 p.m. GSC contest at Tucker Coliseum. Admission will be free.
