Genz Named GAC Defensive Player of Year

Logan Genz, the all-time leader in career tackles for Arkansas Tech University and the Great American Conference, was named 2015 GAC defensive player of the year on Tuesday, Nov. 17.

A senior linebacker from West Fork, Genz has made 103 tackles this season, including 10.5 tackles for a loss and two quarterback sacks. He also has two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, a blocked kick and a defensive touchdown scored.

Genz has 455 career tackles. He is the only Arkansas Tech player to ever accumulate 100 or more tackles in all four seasons of his career, and he ranks among the top seven players in NCAA Division II history in career tackles.

Also representing Arkansas Tech on the 2015 All-GAC teams are running back Bryan Allen of Forrest City, fullback Chris Eastburn of Pearcy, quarterback Arsenio Favor of Montgomery, Ala., defensive lineman Demetris Ford of Magnolia, defensive lineman Bruce Livingston of Bradenton, Fla., offensive lineman Trey Martin of Hot Springs, place kicker Eric Perez of Green Forest, special teams performer K.J. Reid of Texarkana, safety Cuá Rose of McGehee and punter Clayton Watson of Green Forest.

The Wonder Boys (8-3) will face Eastern New Mexico University (6-5) in the C.H.A.M.P.S. Heart of Texas Bowl on Saturday, Dec. 5, in Copperas Cove, Texas.
