Gelles Too Much for Arkansas Tech

Kale Gelles carried 20 times for 257 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Harding Bisons to a 42-7 Gulf South Conference victory over the Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys at First Security Stadium in Searcy on Saturday.

Harding (5-4 overall, 3-4 GSC) raced out to a 21-0 lead behind two Gelles touchdown runs and a 24-yard touchdown pass from Josh Powell to Kurt Adams.

Tech scored its lone touchdown of the day on a 2-yard touchdown run by Robert Sagerian with 10:13 left in the second quarter. His first career rushing touchdown capped a nine-play, 68-yard drive and cut Harding’s lead to 21-7.

But that was all that a stingy Bisons defense would allow as Harding improved to 19-2 in its last 21 Homecoming games.

The Wonder Boys (3-7, 2-6) finished with 200 yards of total offense compared to 517 total yards by Harding.

Arkansas Tech will conclude its 2010 football season by hosting Southwest Baptist for a non-conference game on Saturday, Nov. 13. Kickoff at Thone Stadium at Buerkle Field is scheduled for 2 p.m.
