Arkansas Tech freshman Olivia Campbell was named Great American Conference women’s cross country runner of the week by the league office on Tuesday, Sept. 27.
Campbell (photographed) finished third among a field of 86 runners at the 2011 University of Arkansas at Little Rock Invitational at Rebsamen Park on Friday, Sept. 23.
She covered the 5-kilometer course in 18 minutes, 5.29 seconds and was the only non-NCAA Division I runner among the top 13 finishers.
This is Campbell’s second GAC runner of the week award this season.
A product of Harrison, Campbell was previously named GAC women’s cross country runner of the week after she finished fourth among a field of 206 runners at the Memphis Twilight Cross Country Classic on Saturday, Sept. 3.
Cheryl Nolan (14th, 19:13.92), Amanda Bradbury (28th, 20:12.13), Kaitlin Bounds (35th, 20:56.34) and Elizabeth Gean (41st, 21:20.64) also represented Arkansas Tech in the UALR Invitational. No team scores were tallied at the meet.
The Golden Suns will run in the Rhodes College Invitational at Memphis, Tenn., on Saturday, Oct. 1. It will be the first of three consecutive 6-kilometer events for the Suns.
