Funeral services for Don Sevier, who served as director of athletics at Arkansas Tech University from 1976-95, have been scheduled for 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 9, at First United Methodist Church in Russellville.
Arkansas Tech won 33 conference titles and two national championships during Sevier’s tenure as director of athletics.
Sevier also served as an assistant football coach at Arkansas Tech from 1962-75. The Wonder Boys won four Arkansas Intercollegiate football titles (1964, 1968, 1970, 1971) and finished as NAIA national runner-up in 1971 with Sevier on staff.
A letterman at Tech in football and men’s basketball, Sevier graduated from Arkansas Tech with a degree in health and physical education in 1957. He was inducted into the Arkansas Tech Hall of Distinction in 2001.
