Franklin County Single Parent Scholarship Recipients Named

Nine individuals from Franklin County have been chosen to receive scholarships for the Fall 2010 semester.

Fall 2010 recipients are:

  • Brittany Nichols of Ozark, a student of Arkansas Tech University – Ozark Campus, $750.00
  • Vanessa Harris of Ozark, a student of Arkansas Tech University – Ozark Campus, $750.00
  • Cheryl Young of Ozark, a student of Arkansas Tech University – Ozark Campus, $750.00
  • Bobbi Smith of Charleston, a student of University of Arkansas at Fort Smith, $375.00
  • Tabitha Looney of Charleston, a student of Arkansas Tech University – Ozark Campus. $750.00
  • Melissa Pannell of Ozark, a student of Arkansas Tech University – Ozark Campus, $750.00
  • Debra Bono of Ozark, a student of Arkansas Tech University – Ozark Campus, $750.00
  • Shannon Hillard of Altus, a student of Arkansas Tech University – Ozark Campus, $750.00
  • Audra Phillips of Branch, a student of John Brown University, $750.00

The Single Parent Scholarship Fund was established in 1990 modeled on successful incentive scholarship funds in two northwest Arkansas counties. The goal of the single parent scholarship fund is to assist single parents to complete their post secondary education in preparation for skilled employment.

Mark your calendar to support the Franklin County Single Parent Scholarship fund by participating in the upcoming “Beauties and the Beads”, a benefit luncheon that will be held on Friday, the fifth of November. The event will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, Gardner Center.
