Individuals seeking career opportunities in the food truck and trucking industries have new educational options through Arkansas Tech University-Ozark Campus.

ATU-Ozark is partnering with Focus EduSolutions to offer online, short-term credentials in food truck entrepreneurship and trucking operations.

“These innovative, workforce development training programs were designed by industry experts for those looking to start a new profession or further their career in either the food truck or trucking industries,” said Bruce Sikes, ATU-Ozark chancellor. “Both programs teach the basics and fundamentals of how to be successful in either career path. Both of these credentials serve a growing demand in our region, state and nation. ATU-Ozark continues to meet the demand of our communities’ future training needs by providing accessible programming aligned with its mission. We are excited about the addition of these quality offerings to the ATU-Ozark business and industry outreach efforts.”

Enrollment is open for the food truck entrepreneurship and trucking operations programs. The first start date for both credentials is Tuesday, Jan. 3.

The ATU-Ozark online, short-term credential in food truck entrepreneurship offers content on starting a food truck, successfully operating a truck and navigating the challenges that can arise in the industry. Students will learn how to develop a business plan, design a menu, market their business, conduct sound financial planning, maintain inventory, hire employees and meet food truck regulations.

The ATU-Ozark online, short-term credential in trucking operations is for the new-to-trucking or entry-level trucking industry employee looking for an overview of trucking company operations, roles within the industry and critical industry standards and regulations. This credential is also for aspiring transportation operations managers who are learning to manage all transportation or hauling needs within a business.

The curriculum offered through ATU-Ozark covers how trucking and freight operations work across the United States, the foundations for various types of freight, trucking equipment, trucking loads, driver planning and driver hours of service, processes for planning and dispatching loads to drivers, customer service and basic understanding of accounting principles that are necessary for trucking management.
