Flu Shot Clinic Today

Arkansas Tech students will be able to receive a free flu shot beginning today from the Arkansas Tech University Health and Wellness Center.

The  center is hosting a free flu shot clinic from noon- 2 p.m. today for students.  Students wishing to receive a shot will be able to stop by Room 242 of the Doc Bryan Student Services Building during this time.

Students who are unable to attend the clinic will be able to make an appointment to receive a shot at the Arkansas Tech Health and Wellness Center, which is located in Dean Hall 126.  To make an appointment, interested students should call 479-968-0329.

Beginning on Monday, October 18, Arkansas Tech faculty and staff will be able to receive a flu shot.  Prior to receiving a shot faculty and staff members must pay a $10 charge at the student accounts office inside the Doc Bryan Student Services Building.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) estimates each year in the United States 5% to 20% of the population gets the flu, and the CDC says a flu shot is one of the best ways to protect against the flu.  Read additional CDC suggestions to protect against the flu.

According to the CDC, the “flu vaccine protects against the three main flu strains that research indicates will cause the most illness during the flu season,” and this year’s flu vaccine protects against three new strains of the flu.
