FFA Contest Brings Students to Campus

More than 1,500 high school students have converged on the Arkansas Tech campus today for the annual Future Farmers of America (FFA) Northwest District Contest.

The students are competing in a variety of events, and the top qualifiers in each event will advance to compete in the state competition this summer.

Some of the categories students are competing in include the following:

  • Livestock
  • Electricity
  • Floriculture
  • Nursery
  • Poultry
  • Farm management
  • Forestry

The FFA competition has taken place at Arkansas Tech for several years, and organizers say it’s a great way to showcase Arkansas Tech majors in agriculture to students who are here to compete.

The event is hosted by the Arkansas Tech Department of Agriculture.

The Arkansas Tech Collegiate FFA volunteers to help facilitate and judge the competitions, and officials say it takes about 100 Tech students to make the competition a reality.
