Faculty Member Sharing Lessons in Uganda

Dr. Justin Killingsworth, associate professor of agricultural education at Arkansas Tech University, is spending 10 days in the African nation of Uganda as part of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and Catholic Relief Services Farmer-to-Farmer program.

According to the sponsoring organizations, Farmer-to-Farmer promotes sustainable economic growth, food security and agricultural development worldwide.

“Volunteers from the U.S. with expertise in farming, extension, research, education and business skills help people in developing countries to improve productivity, access new markets and conserve resources,” reads a portion of the printed material about the program. “Our volunteers work with farmers, producer groups, rural businesses and non-profits to increase food production and rural incomes.”

Killingsworth joined the ATU faculty in 2011. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Education degree from Texas A&M University. He earned his Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Missouri.
