The Arkansas Tech University Department of Public Safety and ATU Counseling Services will present a program entitled “Understanding the Opioid Epidemic” on Monday, March 12.
Kirk Lane, drug director for the State of Arkansas, and Dr. John Kirtley, executive director for the Arkansas Board of Pharmacy, will speak from 4-5:30 p.m. in the Doc Bryan Student Services Center Lecture Hall.
Admission will be free and open to the public.
According to data from the U.S. Center for Disease Control, 66 percent of drug overdoses in the United States involve an opioid and an average of 115 Americans die every day from an opioid overdose.
