Every 15 Minutes

Counseling Services at Arkansas Tech is raising awareness about the effects of alcohol this week by hosting a series of awareness events during the week leading up to Spring Break.

Organizers say the week-long series of events is entitled Every 15 Minutes and reminds students about the dangers of alcohol.

Gabriela Ostria, resident director and coordinator of alcohol and drug education and prevention, says the program focuses on the fact someone is impacted negatively by alcohol every 15 minutes, and Ostria says the program features a variety of events to educate students about some of the dangers of alcohol.

As part of the events, there will be a mock car crash on display beginning at 6 p.m. this evening in the Doc Bryan Student Services Building.  The staged crash is designed to demonstrate the type of crash that can result from drinking and driving.

Other events planned during the week include–

Tuesday:

  • Candle Event—lawn outside of Chambers Cafeteria—6 p.m.

Wednesday:

  • Health and Wellness Fair—Chambers Cafeteria East Dining Room—10 a.m.- 2 p.m.
  • A Legal Affair—Doc Bryan Student Services Building Lecture Hall—6 p.m.
  • Saint Patrick’s Day Extravaganza—Young Game Room—8 p.m.
