Elmore to Give Senior Recital Saturday

It’s always nice to have a friend by your side during a big moment.

That will be the case for Arkansas Tech University student Maegan Elmore of Benton when she presents her senior vocal recital at Witherspoon Auditorium in Russellville on Saturday, March 3.

The performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. Admission will be free and open to the public.

“I really enjoy several of my songs that I am performing on Saturday,” said Elmore. “One of my favorite pieces is a more contemporary piece called ‘In Christ Alone.’ My best friend Kristi Newman will be playing the piano for this piece. I have had a great time working with her on this piece.”

Elmore said that she chose Arkansas Tech because of a combination of scholarship opportunities and the reputation of the music program.

“I have really enjoyed being a part of the choirs at Tech,” said Elmore. “(Director of choirs) Mr. (Gary) Morris gave us the opportunity to perform a wide variety of repertoire and in several parts of the state. I have learned a lot from being in this program.”

After graduation, Elmore plans to get married and begin her career. She would like to find a job in elementary music education.
