Members of the inaugural Doctor of Education degree in school leadership cohort at Arkansas Tech University will continue making their doctoral dissertation defense presentations this week.
The doctoral dissertation defenses mark a milestone for the institution. The cohort is not only the first for the Doctor of Education program at ATU. The members of the cohort are the first doctoral students in the 108-year history of the institution.
The presentations will take place at the Center for Leadership and Learning, which is located adjacent to Lake Point Conference Center at 227 State Road 333 South in Russellville.
Members of the university community are invited to attend each of the dissertation defenses.
Keith McGee and Ivy Pfeffer have already made their presentations. The remaining students who will make their dissertation defenses during the month of February are scheduled for the following dates and times:

- Cynthia Rice, “21st Century Teaching and Learning: The Perceptions and Practices of Teachers in Four Schools in One Arkansas School District,” 4 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 23
- Keri Rathbun, “Perceptions of School Counselors Regarding Barriers to Implementing the ASCA National Model,” 10 a.m., Friday, Feb. 24
- Mary Ann Spears, “An Investigation of the Superintendent Induction and Mentoring Program in Arkansas,” 11 a.m., Monday, Feb. 27
The ATU Doctor of Education degree in school leadership is designed for K-12 education professionals who currently serve or wish to serve in school district leadership positions.
