ECED Students Attend Friday Forum

Approximately 70 Arkansas Tech University early childhood education students participated in the first of several Friday Forum events scheduled for this semester on Friday, Aug. 24.

Dr. Stephanie Pepper, assistant professor of early childhood education, said the Friday Forum concept was developed as a means of bringing second-semester juniors and first-semester seniors in the early childhood education program together “in order to build community and support for each other in their quest to become professionals.”

The initial Friday Forum was held in Chambers Cafeteria East Banquet Hall and was focused on the idea of professionalism among early childhood educators.

Patience, respect for colleagues, appropriate dress, punctuality, preparation, maintaining a positive attitude and communication with parents were among the topics discussed.

Pepper said that future Friday Forum sessions will feature current and former teachers as guest speakers.
