Charles Duval has joined Arkansas Tech University as assistant softball coach.
Duval (photographed) will serve on head coach Kristina McSweeney’s staff during the 2013 season. McSweeney was announced as the third head softball coach in Arkansas Tech history on June 22.
A native of Missoula, Mont., Duval was McSweeney’s assistant coach with the softball program at Seminole State College in Oklahoma during the 2011 and 2012 seasons.
“I am really excited that Charles decided to come with me from Seminole State,” said McSweeney in a news release from the Arkansas Tech Department of Athletics. “He is one of the top hitting coaches around and a tremendous recruiter.”
Prior to his two years on the softball staff, Duval served as assistant baseball coach at Seminole State from 2007-2010.
Duval holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics from the University of Montana and a Master of Secondary Education degree from East Central University (Okla.).
He helped Seminole State post an overall record of 44-13 and reach the championship game of the National Junior College Athletics Association Region 2 Tournament during the 2012 softball season.
