Arkansas Tech’s Alex Doyle tossed a four-hit shutout in a 2-0 Golden Suns’ victory over the Fort Hays State Tigers on Friday during day one at the Holiday Inn at the Falls Midwestern State University Invitational in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Doyle (4-2) struck out six and walked just one over seven innings of work. She only allowed one Tiger to advance as far as second base.
Arkansas Tech broke a scoreless tie when Natalie Magie scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Shanda Jimeson came home with an insurance run one inning later courtesy of Amy Kilpatrick’s RBI sacrifice bunt.
The Golden Suns (8-5) will face St. Edward’s at 11 a.m. and Abilene Christian at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 5, in further action at Wichita Falls.
