New to Norman Career Services this year is the “Don’t Cancel Class” program for faculty to utilize in place of losing a day of student learning.
The staff in Career Services understands there are times when things happen that force professors to cancel class. They have several workshops prepared to present to students and they can be tailored to fit the needs of the class.
Some of the programs that can be used for the “Don’t Cancel Class” program are:
- “What Can I Do with a Major In…” – Helps students answer this ever-present question. Information is provided from career resources that will help students choose a career path.
- Résumé/Cover Letter – Teaches students how to design or redesign these documents to improve chances of garnering an interview.
- Interviewing – Helps students understand the importance of being prepared for a job interview, and provides tools and techniques to help students feel confident.
- · Job Search – Illustrates the difference between searching for a job with a high school degree versus a college degree, and shows students places to look for jobs in their major field of study.
Career Services requests a two week notice from the professor if possible, in order to allow enough time to design the class session.
