Debaters Perform Well at HSU Winter Warm-Up

The Arkansas Tech debate and forensics team earned awards at their first tournament of the 2012-13 school year when the team competed in the Winter Warm-Up at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia on Saturday, Sept. 29.

The Arkansas Tech debate and forensics team earned awards at their first tournament of the 2012-13 school year when the team competed in the Winter Warm-Up at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia on Saturday, Sept. 29.

Tech debaters Lindsey Cady, Annie George, Hunter Rogers and Cheyenne Walls all advanced to elimination rounds on the basis of strong preliminary records. Walls was undefeated in preliminaries. 

In the varsity division, George finished as an octofinalist while Rogers was a quarterfinalist. In the novice division, Walls was an octofinalist and Cady was a quarterfinalist. Cady also earned honors as the fourth-ranked speaker, a distinction awarded on the basis of style, diction and decorum.

The Arkansas Tech debate and forensics team will compete in the Weevil Wars Tournament at the University of Arkansas-Monticello this weekend.
