Debate Team Ends Regular Season with Success

Eight members of the Arkansas Tech Debate Team recently competed in the End of Hi-Bear-Nation Tournament and successfully ended their regular season of competition.

The team came home with six trophies to add to a growing collection. Hunter Rogers was named first place novice speaker. Sarah Plummer placed second in the same category.

Sarah Plummer and Janet Claudio were octo-finalists. Lindsey Cady advanced to the quarter-finals, and Hunter Rogers received second place in the novice division.

Competitors from Arkansas Tech include Chantel Moseby, Hunter Rogers, Dustin Jackson, Sarah Plummer, Cheyenne Walls, Lindsey Cady, Jessica Love, and Janet Claudio. The team was assisted in case preparation by other students Emily Jenkins, Zac Perry, Matt Singleton, Katrina Hanna, and Seth Fendley.

The team was coached at the tournament by Dr. Gabriel Adkins and Dr. Christopher Duerringer.

The End of Hi-Bear-Nation Tournament was in Conway on the University of Central Arkansas campus.

This season will end as the team travels to Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas, for the International Public Debate Association National Tournament to be held April 12-15.
