Debate Team Continues Success

Four members of the Arkansas Tech debate team recently competed in the Eddy Shell Invitational and brought home several trophies to add to a growing collection.

The team won a total of four trophies in the novice division of the International Public Debate Association competition.

Hunter Rogers, a junior, advanced to the double octo-final round. Annie George, also a junior, advanced to the octo-final round.

Additionally, Seth Fendley won first place in the tournament after the final round of debate. He was also awarded fourth place in the novice individual speaker division.

The competition was held at Bossier Parish Community College in Bossier City, Louisiana.

Dr. Chris Duerringer, a volunteer assistant coach to the debate team, accompanied the team to Louisiana. The head coach and director of the debate team is Dr. Gabriel Adkins.

The team will continue its tour this weekend at the March Madness Match-Up at Har-Ber High School in Springdale. Later this month, the group will debate in the final regular season tournament in Conway.
