The Arkansas Tech Department of Diversity and Inclusion will present guest speaker Evan Young at the W.O. Young Ballroom at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 21.
The event is free and open to all Arkansas Tech University students.
Young is a native of Little Rock. He holds degrees from Northwestern State University (La.) and Nova Southeastern University (Fla.). He retired from the U.S. Army at the rank of Major in 2013.
He was elected president of the Arkansas Transgender Equality Coalition in 2014. He also serves as president of the Transgender American Veterans Association. In that role, Young represents more than 134,000 transgender veterans by actively engaging with the Department of Veterans Affairs to ensure equality in benefits and health care.
