Corey Danekas, welding technology program chair at Arkansas Tech University-Ozark Campus, is now an American Welding Society certified welding inspector and certified welding educator.
Danekas earned the certifications through AWS while attending a two-week workshop at the Hobart Institute of Welding Technology in Troy, Ohio. The mission of AWS, which includes more than 71,000 members worldwide, is to advance the science, technology and application of welding and allied joining and cutting processes worldwide, including brazing, soldering and thermal spraying.
Danekas said having the credentials will enable the welding program at Arkansas Tech-Ozark to expand its offerings to students and industry by providing in-house welder qualifications as well as increasing training to regional industry personnel.
