Critical Language Scholarship Workshop Sept. 19

Arkansas Tech University students can learn about the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) program during a presentation on Tuesday, Sept. 19.

The workshop will take place from 3:30-4:30 p.m. in the Miller Center for Global Engagement, Dean Hall room 117. Admission will be free and open to the ATU community.

Dr. Kelsey Utne, ATU assistant professor of history and two-time CLS program alumna, will speak about her experiences with the program and how the application process works.

According to information provided by the U.S. Department of State, the CLS program is “part of a U.S. government initiative to expand the number of Americans studying and mastering foreign languages that are critical to national security and economic prosperity.”
