Cooper's Final Farewell

Hal Cooper ended a 32-year career on Saturday, Aug. 13, by standing before a group of musicians as Arkansas Tech University director of bands for the final time.

Cooper (photographed) directed the Arkansas Tech Wind Ensemble during summer 2011 graduation at Tucker Coliseum on Saturday as his final act as director of bands. Cooper is one of only three people — Marvin Williamson (1913-50) and Gene Witherspoon (1950-79) are the others — to hold that title at Arkansas Tech.

Christopher M. Anderson, who previously served as associate director of bands and director of athletics bands at Texas Tech University since 2003, will take over as director of bands at Arkansas Tech this fall.
