The Echoes of the River Valley series at Arkansas Tech University's Ross Pendergraft Library and Technology Center will present a contra dance program on Saturday, April 6.
The class will begin at 7 p.m. in room 300B of the library, which is located at 305 West Q Street in Russellville. Admission will be free and open to the public.
Contra dance is a social dance in which one can participate without a partner. Dances will be taught and performed to live music played on stringed instruments. No experience is necessary for the class at ATU on April 6.
"This is a great opportunity for students, faculty and the greater community to engage in one of the historic cultural tradition of this region," said Sherry Tinerella, public services librarian at the Ross Pendergraft Library and Technology Center.
