Constitution Day to be Celebrated Next Week

Next Thursday and Friday, Arkansas Tech University will celebrate the signing of the United States Constitution.

According to the Constitution Center website, Constitution Day is a day to continue the legacy of the 39 brave men who changed the course of history and develop habits of citizenship in a new generation of Americans.

Thursday morning, Arkansas Tech students will be traveling to Dwight Elementary School in Russellville to put on an educational constitution program for children in kindergarten through fourth grade.

Additionally, the program will be presented to ninth graders at Russellville Junior High School and first graders at Pyron Elementary School in Clarksville on Friday.

At noon on Friday, a public reading of the U.S. Constitution will kick off the day of events. Readers include local dignitaries and members of the Arkansas Tech community.

Also at noon, there will be constitution quizzes and other activities for Tech students at Chambers Cafeteria and the Baswell Techionery. These activities will move to the Pendergraft Library entrance from 2-4 p.m. Prizes will be available to those who complete quizzes.
