Concert to Feature Works by Hindemith

The Arkansas Tech University Department of Music will celebrate the works of an influential German composer with a concert entitled “Hindemith for Brass” on Monday, Nov. 16.

The performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Witherspoon Auditorium, which is located at 407 West Q Street on the Arkansas Tech campus in Russellville. Admission will be free and open to the public.

The concert will feature members of the Arkansas Tech Department of Music performing compositions by Paul Hindemith, who lived from 1895-1963.

“Hindemith composed some of the most significant and challenging solo and chamber music for brass,” said Dr. Gary Barrow, professor of music at Arkansas Tech. “Tech musicians will honor him by celebrating the 120th anniversary of his birth.”

The concert will include an overview on Hindemith and his work provided by Barrow and Dr. Sean Reed, assistant professor of music at Arkansas Tech.
