Help Area Kids Fight Summer Hunger

The Arkansas Tech University chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International honor society of nurses is conducting a food drive to combat summer hunger among area children.

According to U.S. hunger relief charity Feeding America, one in four children live in poverty and receive nutrition assistance through school programs. That often creates a hunger gap for children in need during the summer months.

Those wishing to help Pope County children during summer 2015 may bring non-perishable food items to Dean Hall room 224-D weekdays from July 1-Aug. 7.

Suggested items include peanut butter, cereal, tuna, ravioli, toaster pastries, fruit cups, breakfast bars, apple sauce and boxed fruit.
