Community Event Aimed at Keeping Kids Safe

River Valley residents are working to keep kids safe, as Mayor Tyrone Williamson has declared January 24-30, as “Kid-Safe Awareness Week” in Russellville.

The week is designed to raise awareness about different methods available to help keep children in the River Valley safe.

One of the highlights of the week is a seminar on Saturday, January 30, from 2-4 p.m. at the Hughes Center.  During the seminar, there will be local, county and state agencies on hand to help parents and community members understand practices they can take to help keep children from harm.

The Kid-Safe program works to equip parents with tools to help ensure a child’s safety.  The group provides identification kits, fingerprint cards and DNA collection kits for River Valley families.
