Commencement Exercises Saturday

Arkansas Tech University will award degrees to more than 600 students during spring commencement exercises at John E. Tucker Coliseum on Saturday.

Graduates from the College of Applied Sciences, the College of Business, the College of Natural and Health Sciences, the College of Professional Studies and Community Outreach and all associate degrees will walk during the 10 a.m. ceremony.

An additional ceremony is planned at 2 p.m. for students graduating from the Graduate College, the College of Arts and Humanities and the College of Education.

The Saturday morning graduation ceremony will also feature the induction of Dr. Lester P. Monts  into the Arkansas Tech University Hall of Distinction.  Induction into the Arkansas Tech University Hall of Distinction is the highest honor that can be bestowed upon an alumnus or alumna, and Monts will be the 101st person to receive the honor.

Monts is a 1970 graduate of Arkansas Tech, and he currently serves as senior vice provost for academic affairs and professor of music at the University of Michigan.  Read more about Monts.

In between the ceremonies, there will be an additional ceremony in the Doc Bryan Student Services Building Lecture Hall honoring two Arkansas Tech students who are commissioning into the United States Army.  Read more about that.
