COE Adjusts Schedule for Saturday Events

Monitor and adjust: it’s more than a common phrase in the world of K-12 education. It’s the tact that the Arkansas Tech University College of Education is taking for its schedule of events for alumni, partners and prospective students on Saturday, Oct. 24.

Forecasts of heavy rain forced the cancellation of Party at the Plaza, so the College of Education has shifted its pre-football game plans for hosting its guests to the single gymnasium inside the Hull Physical Education Building. There, alumni, partners and prospective students will have an opportunity to re-connect and network during an indoor tailgate party beginning at noon.

The day will start with an open house at 11 a.m. in Crabaugh Hall room 302.

Dr. Mary B. Gunter, dean of the Arkansas Tech College of Education and the Arkansas Tech Graduate College, will offer a welcome.

From there, alumni and partners will have an opportunity to attend break-out sessions for the departments within the College of Education at 11:30 a.m.:

  • Curriculum and Instruction, Crabaugh Hall room 302
  • Center for Leadership and Learning, Crabaugh Hall room 301
  • Health and Physical Education, Crabaugh Hall room 216
  • College Student Personnel, Crabaugh Hall room 221

Current students who are considering undergraduate or graduate programs in education may also attend the break-out session of their choice.

Kickoff for a Great American Conference football game between Arkansas Tech and Southeastern Oklahoma State University is set for 2 p.m. Students, alumni and partners from the Arkansas Tech College of Education will be recognized with a spotlight video inside the stadium between the first and second quarters.

Individuals associated with the College of Education will receive special pennants on Saturday. Alumni, students and partners are encouraged to wave their pennants during the special recognition as a show of pride in the college.
