City, County Declare Green and Gold Day

Russellville Mayor Bill Eaton and Pope County Judge Jim Ed Gibson have issued proclamations declaring Thursday, Oct. 20, as Green and Gold Day in recognition of the 2011 Arkansas Tech University Homecoming celebration.

Eaton (far right) and Gibson (far left) presented the proclamations to Arkansas Tech President Dr. Robert C. Brown on Monday, Oct. 17.

“Arkansas Tech and the surrounding area have enjoyed a mutually beneficial relationship for more than 100 years,” said Julie Morgan, assistant to the president at Arkansas Tech. “We offer our appreciation to Mayor Eaton and Judge Gibson for the designation of this Thursday as Green and Gold Day in Russellville and Pope County, and we hope the spirit of that day will carry throughout the weekend as we celebrate Homecoming 2011.”

Arkansas Tech students, faculty, staff, alumni and community supporters are encouraged to wear green and gold on Thursday to show their support for the university.

Businesses and homeowners wishing to display their Arkansas Tech pride can purchase 3-foot x 5-foot flags or 12-inch x 18-inch yard flags by contacting Morgan at (479) 968-0332. The flags are $40 (poles are $20) and the yard flags with stand are $20.
