Chinese Students Attend Summer Camp at ATU

Participants in the 2019 Great American Adventure Camp at Arkansas Tech University met Jerry the Bulldog, ATU campus ambassador, on Wednesday, July 24.

Twenty-eight students and two teachers from Guangzhou, China, participated in a two-week immersion program at Arkansas Tech University July 12-26.

The 2019 Great American Adventure Camp at ATU provided the Chinese high school students with opportunities to study conversational English, grammar and American culture. They also visited destinations around Arkansas, including Lake DeGray State Park, Mount Nebo State Park, Blanchard Springs Caverns and a variety of popular cultural and shopping venues in Little Rock.

Applicants for the 2019 Great American Adventure Camp were required to have a minimum of 1.5 years of previous training in English language.

The annual camp is hosted by the ATU Department of International Student Services and the ATU English Language Institute.

ATU was home to 373 international students representing 45 countries during the 2018-19 academic year.
