Celebrate Octubafest Friday Night

The Arkansas Tech University Department of Music will spotlight one its faculty members and one of its student ensembles during a performance entitled “Octubafest” on Friday, Oct. 27.

The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Witherspoon Auditorium, 407 West Q Street in Russellville. Admission will be free and open to the public.

The first half of the program will consist of a faculty recital by Clayton Maddox, visiting lecturer of music. He will perform works composed by Rolf Wilhelm, Dan Kramer, Ionel Dumitru, Tom Ritter George, Ari Barroso and Mikio Sasaki.

Following an intermission, members of the student ensemble Bass Tech will take the stage. Pieces by Ralph Vaughan Williams, Frigyes Hidas, John Phillip Sousa, Gustav Holst and John Stevens are on their program.

Members of Bass Tech include Ethan Alonzo, Michael Bays, Corey Nolan, John Wasson and Kimiko Yamada on euphonium as well as Justin Baggett, Michael Barker, Donovan Crow, Abigail Few, Ashton Nichols, Santiago Rodriguez and Jeremy Rogillio on tuba.

John Ingram (euphonium) and Matt Smith (tuba) will appear as guest artists. Maddox serves as director for Bass Tech.
